Things might be tough for Scotland and the Scottish FA at the moment but at least we’ve not hit the lows Senegal have experienced lately, after they failed to call-up Keita Balde because they sent the invite to Inter Milan’s old email address.
The 23-year-old winger has been one of Inter Milan’s standout players this season, as he spends the campaign on-loan from Thierry Henry’s Monaco, and would’ve been one of the first names on the Senegal team-sheet for their African Cup of Nation qualifier against Equatorial Guinea on Saturday.
But Balde’s appearance is in doubt tonight after the Senegal FA failed to contact Inter as they are required to do so when calling-up any club’s players.
The weird news of the day:
Inter’s Keita Balde missing on Senegal call-up because…Senegal sent the call-up to an old mail of Inter, as admitted by Senegal FA vicepresident himself

Unfortunately for them, they used an email address which turned out to be an old one. And as such, Inter have refused to comply with the call-up.
As completely ridiculous as this sounds, Abdoulaye Sow, VP of the Senegalese FA, confirmed the news in a statement via Bleacher Report: “We have sent an email to Inter to inform them of the summoned player, but it was sent to the old email address that Internazionale Milano no longer uses.
“They changed their address.
“At the current moment, the player can not leave and can not be called to join us. His club is uncompromising.”
So, there you have it – at least the SFA have never got a club’s email address wrong – that we know of, at least.
What do you think of the bizarre situation?
