There’s Plenty of England Fans Who Are Angry About Wayne Rooney’s Send Off Match

Wayne Rooney will be back in an England kit next month for a one-off friendly against the USA, but there’s plenty of Three Lions supporters who are very unhappy at the prospect.

The Manchester United legend is currently playing for DC United in MLS, and has been winning plaudits for his performances State side, which has led to the 33-year-old winning his 120th international cap.

Rooney retired from international duty in 2017 but he will lead out England one more time in a ceremonial way at the National Stadium, with proceeds from the glamour fixture being donated to charity.

He’s England’s all-time top-scorer, and probably took more stick than most during his international career, but there’s still a lot of fans who think this is a marketing stunt that cheapens international caps:
