Tottenham Striker Son Ahead of Mbappe, Messi and Neymar to Become Next FIFA Cover Star

Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son is one of the favourites to be the cover star for the next FIFA console game – with the likes of Neymar, Mbappe and Messi all trailing in his wake.

The world’s most popular football console game features one of football’s most popular and in-form players every year, with the reigning Ballon d’Or holder Cristiano Ronaldo currently featuring on the FIFA19 cover, resplendent in his new Juventus kit.

And, he could be followed by South Korea’s biggest star, if the website FIFPlay is anything to go by.

The site is completely devoted to FIFA-related content, and has been running a poll amongst their thousands of daily visitors on who fans want to see front and centre on FIFA 20.

And, at the moment, Son is beating out some heavy competition, although Ronaldo and Mo Salah are putting up a pretty good fight.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been the game’s cover star for the past two years, is leading the way with 17% of the votes (2,376 votes so far) while Mohamed Salah, who accrued 553,750 votes and finished in third for the FIFA 19 cover vote, is in second with 2,117 votes (15%) at the time of writing.

And then Son comes in with 11% of nearly 14,000 votes cast. Lionel Messi is in fourth with 8%, with PSG duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on 4% each.

Of course, it’s still early days, but there’s something about picturing Sonny’s infectious, smiling face on the box that fills our hearts with joy.
