Steven Gerrard has lavished praise on young winger Glenn Middleton this evening – but the Rangers boss admits he’s concerned by how he’ll be used by Scotland’s Under-19s over the international break.
The 18-year-old creative midfielder started this afternoon’s 7-1 demolition of Motherwell at Ibrox, just three days after starting in the Europa League away to Spartak Moscow, and it seems he has a fan in Gerrard.
Gerrard was asked for his thoughts on Middleton after watching the youngster score in today’s win, and whilst he was effusive in praise when referring to his development, Gerrard asked for caution from Scotland’s coaches in the coming week:
Middleton will feature for the Scotland Under-19 side playing in three matches over six days, against Wales, San Marino and Sweden.
But what do you make of Gerrard’s comments? Is he right to be concerned for one of his younger, more vulnerable players?
