Hibs winger Martin Boyle stole the limelight from the retiring Tim Cahill today by scoring his first international goals for Australia against Lebanon.

The 25-year-old was born in Aberdeen, but qualifies to play for Oz because his father was born in Sydney, and he’s wasting no time in showing Alex McLeish that he’s made a mistake in not calling him up for Scotland.

Having made his international bow against South Korea last week, Boyle was given the nod to make his first start in today’s friendly against Lebanon, and he opened his account after just 19 minutes.

And as if that wasn’t impressive enough, Boyle doubled his tally on 41 minutes, leaving Aussie supporters thinking they’d unearthed a real gem of a player:

Whilst Boyle stole the show in the eventual 3-0 victory, Cahill was making his final appearance for the Socceroos, as he retires from international football at the grand old age of 38.

Do you think Scotland will badly regret not capping Boyle before Australia?
