Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has lavished praise on his players after today’s hard-fought victory over St Mirren.

The Gers struggled to get into any sort of real rhythm in the first-half, and the hosts forced Allan McGregor into several decent saves, and it looked as though it was going to be another frustrating day on the road for Gerrard’s men.

However, a cross-come-shot from Daniel Candeias broke the deadlock with just nine minutes remaining, and top-scorer Alfredo Morelos sealed the win after a really clever finish in stoppage time.

In recent weeks, Gerrard has been pretty harsh on his players in public, especially after last weekend’s Betfred Cup defeat to Aberdeen, but his attitude had flipped 180 degrees this afternoon as he praised his squad for their efforts:

Rangers now face a tough trip to Russia to face Spartak Moscow on Thursday night, before a mouth-watering fixture against Hearts at Tynecastle next weekend.
