Germany striker Timo Werner reminded European football exactly why he’s one of the most exciting youngsters on the continent tonight by scoring an absolutely brilliant goal against the Netherlands.
The 22-year-old RB Leipzig hit-man has been injured of late, and missed his club’s Europa League defeat away at Celtic just over a week ago, but he was definitely full-fit by kick-off this evening.
Werner was chosen in a full-strength German side, despite the country’s relegation from their Nations League group being confirmed with France’s 2-0 defeat to tonight’s opponents on Friday.
And it seems Joachim Loew’s men were intent on proving a point, after coming out of the gates with all guns blazing, and it took just nine minutes for Werner to find the back of the net in brilliant fashion:
WHAT A GOAL!
Already-relegated Germany have the lead against promotion-chasing Netherlands thanks to a wonderful Timo Werner strike.

He might be at cash-rich Leipzig for the moment, but could Werner soon be wearing the No.9 shirt for one of European football’s super powers?
