West Ham chairman David Gold has insisted Richard Scudamore deserves the £5 million pay-off he’s receiving from Premier League clubs, despite fans being outraged by the notion.

Scudamore is set to step down as the Executive Chairman of the Premier League after 19 years of service, and there’s plans to give him an eye-watering ‘golden goodbye’, with reports that each Premier League club has been asked to chip-in the handsome sum of £250,000 for a leaving present of sorts.

As we told you yesterday, fans and onlookers are pretty furious at the ‘obscene’ gesture by Gold isn’t too bothered, insisting Scudamore deserves everything coming to him:

According to the BBC, the idea was put forth by Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck, but it’s fair to say the regular week-to-week paying punter is far from impressed, but what do you think?
