Brendan Rodgers was humble in defeat as Celtic lost 1-0 to Rangers this afternoon.
The Hoops manager watched his side produce a very poor performance to lose at the home of their fierce rivals.
They went into the game three points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table after beating Aberdeen 4-3 in midweek.
But they were poor this afternoon, with Ryan Jack’s goal proving enough for Rangers to get their first victory in the fixture since 2012.
Rodgers would have every right to be furious with his team as they were very disappointing and came off second best all over the pitch.
Yet he was humble while speaking post-match, crediting Rangers for their performance while simply picking out why it didn’t go well for Celtic:
🎙Brendan Rodgers: "You always have to be humble enough when you win, but also honest when you lose. Rangers were better than us today and we have to accept that."#RANCEL

🗣️BR: "We had a few breakaways and a few chances, Callum was unfortunate, and he was arguably our best attacking player – how he served the ball, how he moved forward and was unlucky to be offside. Olivier had a chance too, and the defender makes a good block."#RANCEL

🗣️BR: "We defended well when we had to, but we probably weren’t as creative going forward as we’ve normally been here. That’s the way it goes sometimes."#RANCEL

🗣️BR: "I’ve sat here having won and having played well, but I sit here today having lost. Today hurts, it always does, and some of our players haven’t experienced that. Now we can go away, recover, press the reset button, work hard and come back better."#RANCEL

Rangers were fully deserving of all three points due to their performance – and that now sees them sitting on 42 points alongside Celtic, but still in second place due to goal difference.
