Gerrard Says He’ll Run Further than Jurgen Klopp if Rangers Score Late Winner Against Celtic

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has joked he might end up bettering Jurgen Klopp‘s dramatic Merseyside Derby celebrations if his Gers side bag a late winner against Celtic later this month.

Liverpool boss Klopp joyfully sprinted onto the pitch after watching his team score a 96th minute winner against local rivals Everton on Sunday, resulting in the FA handing the German a fine of £8,000.

And as a former Reds captain and club legend, Gerrard was obviously a keen spectator, and he’s admitted he’d be unable to contain himself in similar circumstances at Ibrox when the Hoops visit on December 29.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s Premiership clash at home to Aberdeen, via the club’s official website, Gerrard said: “I ran further than Klopp when that goal went in.

“I’ve never been manager when a last-minute derby winner goes in, don’t be surprised if you see me run further!

“We all have responsibilities but emotions take over and it’s good to see managers and players celebrate.”

After watching Rangers lose 1-0 at Celtic Park back in September, Gerrard is yet to even witness his side score in an an Old Firm Derby, but what do you think the reaction would be if he followed in Klopp’s footsteps and stormed the pitch?
