Kylian Mbappé Explains How Arsene Wenger Tried to Tempt Him to Arsenal Last Year

French superstar Kylian Mbappé has explained how Arsene Wenger tried to talk him into joining Arsenal last year – and precisely how close he came to moving to the Emirates.

The PSG striker is fresh from winning the World Cup with his country last summer and is undoubtedly one of the best young footballers on the planet today, as you’ll probably already know by now.

However, things could’ve been very different had the 19-year-old listened to Wenger back in 2017.

Now, we all know Wenger has tried to sign just about every decent player ever to kick a football in the last 25 years, but Mbappé’s comments definitely make for interesting reading for Arsenal fans.

Mbappé has openly stated his affection for the North London side in the past, and speaking via Get Football News France, he said:

“He is a real French football monument who has left Arsenal.

“I have not seen many people in this world being viewed in such a unanimous way.

“When the entirety of Europe gets on its knees in front of him to celebrate him, that certainly means something.

“A little while ago, before I signed for PSG, we were in contact in 2017.

“I chose a different direction but he wasn’t annoyed at me. He was a gentleman about it and wished me good luck.”

Arsenal or not, we’d absolutely love to see Mbappé play on British shores one day soon but it looks unlikely it’ll happen any time soon.
