Olivier Giroud’s injury looks like a bad one as he left Selhurst Park on crutches this afternoon.
The French striker started for Chelsea as they travelled across London to take on Crystal Palace in the first of today’s English Premier League games.
But he had to come off after 76 minutes with what looked like an ankle injury.
Chelsea fans would have hoped that was a precaution and Giroud would be fit to play Southampton on Wednesday.
Pictures from Selhurst Park after the game, though, suggest the injury is more serious and he’ll be a doubt for that clash with the Saints:

Maurizio Sarri confirmed post-match that Giroud has an issue with his ankle and the club will assess it fully tomorrow:
Sarri: 'Giroud's problem is his ankle. We have to wait for tomorrow. In the past days we were a bit unlucky. Yesterday in 10 minutes we had three injuries. Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek and Drinkwater. Then today, Giroud, and we were without Pedro and Hudson-Odoi.'#CRYCHE

Alvaro Morata is in reserve for Chelsea, but his struggles continue and it appears Sarri doesn’t have complete faith in him due to the way he’s been in and out of the team this season.
With Giroud potentially injured for a long period, it could mean Chelsea delve into the January transfer window to sign another striker.
