As we told you at the time, Gerrard and the club’s scouting department spent a significant chunk of the summer months chasing after the Nigerian, and it looked like he’d play a significant part in the club’s Premiership campaign.
However, the 21-year-old was limited to just one start this season, in the League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen, where he was booked for simulation in the closing stages when it looked easier to go around the goalkeeper Joe Lewis and score.
Rangers lost that match 1-0 and it probably sealed Sadiq’s fate too:
