Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood hammered home his first-team credentials this evening by scoring a hat-trick against Chelsea and ending their five-year unbeaten run in the FA Youth Cup.
At 17-years-old, Greenwood is still waiting for his senior debut in the first-team but that may have just been accelerated after his remarkable showing tonight, as he almost single-handed ends the Stamford Bridge club’s grip on English football at youth level.
Chelsea went into tonight’s match against the junior Red Devils without a defeat in a Youth Cup tie since the 2012/13 season but the Leigh Sports Village Stadium in Manchester was to be the venue of their downfall this evening, and Greenwood its chief architect.
Wearing the No.9 jersey, Greenwood terrorised the Chelsea defence all night, in what will probably be looked back on in a few years as his coming of age:

Given the current state of United’s striking options, could Jose Mourinho be prepared to make a bold move and give Greenwood his first-team bow?
What do you think of his potential?
