Video: Rangers Take American Duo Matt Polster and Andrew Gutman on Trial

Rangers have taken American duo Matt Polster and Andrew Gutman on trial, as Steven Gerrard runs the rule over pair during training this week.

Polster is a midfielder first and foremost but can fill in usefully at full-back, and the Chicago Fire man was handed his debut for the US national team at the start of this year.

The 25-year-old’s deal with the MLS side expires on New Year’s Day, meaning there’d be no fee for Gerrard or Rangers should they look to obtain his signature.

Conversely, Gutman is a bit less experience, and the 22-year-old left-back is graduating from college football and moving into the senior game after an impressive stint at Indiana University.

Both are expected to take part with the rest of the Gers squad at the Hummel Training Centre for the rest of the week, but what do you make of the new arrivals?

Is Gerrard searching for recruits in the right area?
