Spurs are suffering nothing short of a striker crisis at the moment, with Harry Kane and Dele Alli on the sidelines, and it looks almost certain that Mauricio Pochettino will have to dip into the transfer market.
Suffering from a hamstring strain, Alli is only expected to be out for a couple of weeks but he’ll be missing for the second-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea this week, whilst Kane has been ruled out until March with an ankle injury.
Here’s five short-term options that Pochettino should perhaps consider…
The big West Ham forward has been out-of-favour under Manuel Pellegrini this season, and he hasn’t played much football at all throughout the last two seasons.
Fit at the moment, Carroll could definitely lend a hand to Spurs and he wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.
The 22-year-old Hull City forward is one of the most exciting prospects in the Championship at the moment, and has already been linked with a move to the North London club.
Bowen has 14 goals in 28 games this season, and if Spurs don’t snap him up, another Premier League club definitely will.
Star of Sunderland’s Netflix documentary, Maja has been earmarked as a potential Premier League star for some time now, and his form in League One suggests he could easily do a job at a higher level.
Out of contract in the summer, Maja wouldn’t require a big fee, and Spurs would be snapping up a player with bundles of potential.
The Brazilian forward signed for Barcelona last summer for a fee of around £35 million but his move to the Nou Camp has been nothing short of a disaster.
The 21-year-old has made just six appearances in La Liga this season, and his spell in Spanish football doesn’t look like it’ll last much longer.
Another hot property from the Championship who looks set to blossom into a regular Premier League goal-scorer sooner rather than later.
With 14 goals and three assists, Adams has stood out as one of the division’s best players in a mediocre Birmingham City team.
Similar to Maja and Bowen, Spurs would be nabbing Adams before someone else does.
