Bookies Suspend Betting on Karim Benzema Joining Chelsea

Bookmakers have suspended betting on Real Madrid star Karim Benzema joining Chelsea this month, as the Stamford Bridge club look to bolster their options in attack.

Previous Chelsea boss Antonio Conte sanctioned a deal worth almost £60 million for Alvaro Morata in the summer of 2016 but the Spaniard has been pretty disappointing during his time in English football, and is being repeatedly linked with a move to either Serie A or La Liga.

With their place in next season’s Champions League far from assured, current Blues manager Maurizio Sarri seems keen to add reinforcements and Gonzalo Higuian, whom he worked with at Napoli, has been mentioned as a possible signing.

But, according to the Mirror, Benzema has jumped to the front of the line, with the odds compilers at Ladbrokes forced to suspend the market on the Frenchman moving to West London.

Benzema has managed seven La Liga goals this season, and has been a Los Blancos mainstay since joining in 2009, but it seems his time at the Bernabeu is coming to an end.

Do you think he could be the man required to bang in the goals for Chelsea in the second-half of the campaign?
