Celtic Are Trying to Sign James McCarthy On Loan…According to Jim White

Celtic are trying their best to sign James McCarthy on-loan from Everton for the rest of the season – according to Sky Sports and talkSPORT presenter Jim White, at least.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder is yet to play for the Toffees this as he continues to regain full fitness after a gruesome double leg-break in January 2018, and he’s been linked with a temporary move to Championship promotion-chasers West Brom.

However, according to White, Brendan Rodgers is looking to swoop in and sign the 28-year-old ahead of the Baggies and bring the former Hamilton Accies man back to the Scottish Premiership.

As reported via the Scotsman, the talkSPORT presenter claims the Parkhead hierarchy are meeting today to discuss two possible transfer targets, one of which is McCarthy on a deal until the end of the current campaign.

Celtic have already completed the signings of Oliver Burke, Tim Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo this month, but would McCarthy be a welcome addition to the Hoops squad?
