Jermain Defoe Vows to ‘Bring That Trophy Home’ After Signing for Rangers

Jermain Defoe is officially a Rangers player this evening after being unveiled as the Ibrox club’s latest capture – and he’s made a bold statement of intent to bring home the Premiership trophy.

The ex-England international has moved to Glasgow on an 18-month loan deal from Bournemouth, and after announcing the news this afternoon, manager Steven Gerrard spoke of his sheer delight at signing someone so ‘exceptionally talented’.

He might be 36 now but Defoe doesn’t sound like he’s coming to the Scottish Premiership for any swansong or retirement farewell, and his first tweet as a Gers firmly backs up his desire to knock Celtic off their perch and stop 10-in-a-row:

Defoe will now join up with the rest of the Rangers squad at their training camp in Tenerife, and could make his debut in the Scottish Cup fourth round tie against Cowdenbeath when the winter shutdown comes to an end.

But what do you think of the signing, and Defoe’s confidence?
