Brendan Rodgers’ ‘a million wingers’ comment is a lot less controversial when heard in context.
The Celtic manager raised eyebrows last night when he said that his squad had a million wingers and they didn’t need another one amid the club’s confirmed pursuit of Ukrainian winger Maryan Shved.
That ‘a million wingers’ quote was reported by many in a way that suggested Rodgers wasn’t happy another winger was being signed by the club.
But when you hear all of what Rodgers said last night following Celtic’s 4-0 win over St Mirren, it makes the quote a lot less controversial:

So Shved will join now, but go out on loan until the end of the season before being added to Rodgers’ squad in the summer.
And, at that time, Celtic will most likely be without Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah – two wingers who joined the club on loan earlier this month.
