Chris Sutton admits Rangers are now favourites for the Scottish Premiership title.

The BT Sport pundit was speaking on Saturday Sav this morning about the title race in Scotland and the imminent signings of Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis.

Steven Gerrard’s men are currently joint on points with Celtic at the winter break and only sit second in the Scottish Premiership table due to goal difference.

And despite the Hoops being top and champions for the last seven years in a row, Sutton believes recent events – including their 1-0 win over their rivals at Ibrox – makes Rangers favourites for the title:

That’s a big opinion from a former Celtic player and someone who is usually so complimentary of Brendan Rodgers’ team.

He’s also not often complimentary of Rangers so their fans should take his new opinion as evidence of just how far they’ve came this season under Rodgers.

Defoe is expected to join Rangers on an 18-month loan in the coming days, while Davis has been strongly linked with a return to Ibrox if the club can agree a deal with Southampton.
