Video: Rangers Skipper James Tavernier Describes Kilmarnock Display as ‘Embarrassing’

Rangers captain James Tavernier has blasted his team’s showing against Kilmarnock, describing the Rugby Park defeat as ’embarrassing’ to the Ibrox side.

The Gers went to Ayrshire this evening looking to build on their emphatic win over bitter rivals Celtic on December 29, and it looked like they’d do exactly that when Jermain Defoe bagged a debut goal after just 11 minutes.

However, Kilmarnock came roaring back, and Steve Clarke’s men ended up eventual 2-1 winners after Eamon Brophy profited from a bizarre moment of lax defending from Worrall, and Jordan Jones coolly slotted past Allan McGregor.

Steven Gerrard’s men huffed and puffed but couldn’t break down a stubborn Killie defence, and were made to settle for defeat – much to the despair of Tavernier:

Rangers are now third in the Premiership after their latest defeat, tied on 42 points with fourth-placed Aberdeen, but are they still serious contenders for the title?
