Romelu Lukaku‘s return to form continued tonight after he scored with his very first touch just seconds after coming on as a substitute against Newcastle United.
Manchester United’s Belgian striker has endured a pretty miserable campaign, and was caught in a run of 11 games without a solitary goal at one point, but the dismissal of Jose Mourinho seems to have given him a new lease of life.
Lukaku came off the bench to score against Bournemouth on Sunday and he repeated the feat tonight at St. James’s Park, with the Red Devils in need of some inspiration halfway through the second period.
Goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka has been outstanding for the Magpies but he simply couldn’t hold Marcus Rashford’s free-kick – and spilled it right at the feet of the onrushing Lukaku:

That’s now 13 goals in 28 appearances for Lukaku since the start of the campaign, for club and country, so has his season really been that bad?
