A tearful Cesc Fabregas got a standing ovation after playing his final Chelsea game today.
It’s widely expected that the Spanish midfielder will move to AS Monaco in the coming days, with the Stamford Bridge club deciding to get some money for him six months before his contract runs out.
Fabregas was handed a start and the captaincy by Maurizio Sarri for the visit of Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup this afternoon.
And a 2-0 win was the ideal way for Fabregas to end his time at Chelsea – although it could have been perfect had he not missed a penalty in the first half.
But regardless, Fabregas was given a standing ovation by the Chelsea support at full-time and looked tearful as he walked towards the tunnel:

Fabregas is now likely to seal the move to Monaco, where he’ll link up with former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry, who is manager.
