Allan McGregor is to get a two-game ban for his tackle on Lewis Ferguson during Rangers’ 4-2 win over Aberdeen on Wednesday night.
The Rangers goalie was involved in one of the many controversial incidents in the game at Pittodrie when he clashed with the Dons midfielder.
As Ferguson ran through towards the ball in the box, he was met by McGregor, who went boot first into his shin.
Referee Bobby Madden didn’t award a foul or give any punishment to McGregor – so that’s allowed the SFA to assess the incident.
And they’ve now decided to offer McGregor a two-game ban, per multiple reports:
McGregor should now miss Rangers’ next two games, starting against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup tomorrow and then finishing with the Premiership clash against St Johnstone next weekend.
There was another incident later in the game when Ferguson went in late on McGregor as they battled for a ball, but Madden deemed that a foul and booked the Aberdeen midfielder so the SFA aren’t able to retroactively hand out further punishment for that.
