Brendan Rodgers Confirms What We All Expected on Kieran Tierney

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed what we all expected on Kieran Tierney.

The Celtic full-back has been back in training for the last week and a half after recovering from a hip injury.

But he’s so far not been involved in any match day squad for Rodgers, with Emilio Izaguirre and Jonny Hayes deputising for him.

Some may have hoped Tierney would return for the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie with Valencia tomorrow night.

Izaguirre has been his replacement for the majority of his time out, while Hayes played well at left back against St Johnstone at the weekend.

But Tierney is the number one left back – so confirmation he won’t be involved tomorrow night will disappoint many.

Although it can’t be seen as a surprise:

Hayes played at the weekend while Izaguirre recovered from a knock picked up against Hibs last week.

But the Honduran has been confirmed fit for Valencia and should take his place at left back.
