Brendan Rodgers has given Celtic fans a positive update on Kieran Tierney and his return from injury.
The Hoops manager spoke to the media this afternoon ahead of his side’s Scottish Cup clash with St Johnstone on Sunday.
Tierney made a return to training earlier this week after two months out with a hip injury.
And that came at a welcome time after Rodgers suffered a number of injuries to some of his star men.
Emilio Izaguirre has been filling in for Tierney at left-back, but even he had an injury scare in Wednesday’s game against Hibs after being on the receiving end of an aggressive tackle from Darnell Johnson.
Rodgers has since confirmed that Izaguirre got away with one, but the return of Tierney would be a big boost for the whole squad.
And the Hoops manager insists that isn’t far away after his return to training:
Tierney hasn’t played for Celtic since the 2-1 Europa League defeat to Red Bull Salzburg on December 13th.
Celtic play St Johnstone on Sunday before welcoming Valencia in the Europa League last 32 first leg next week – with the return leg coming a week later after an away Premiership game at Kilmarnock.
