Connor Goldson believes Aberdeen putting pictures of their Betfred Cup semi-final victory over Rangers on the walls of Pittodrie ahead of Wednesday’s game inspired his side to a big win.
The Dons emerged victories in the semi-final at Hampden back in November, with Lewis Ferguson scoring a late winner that day.
That was a big disappointment for Rangers, but a huge achievement for Derek McInnes’ men – and they rightly celebrated it afterwards.
But it seems Aberdeen were still thinking about it going into Wednesday night’s game at Pittodrie.
According to Goldson, Aberdeen putting pictures of the Betfred Cup win on the walls of Pittodrie going into Wednesday’s game gave Rangers all the inspiration they needed to win:
Aberdeen may be regretting that decision following the 4-2 defeat to Rangers.
It was a highly entertaining game at Pittodrie, with six goals, two red cards and two penalties providing a number of big talking points throughout the 90 minutes.
