Craig Levein Can’t Resist Joke at Expense of Referees

Craig Levein Can’t Resist Joke at Expense of Referees

The Hearts manager led his side to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock on Friday night so was able to relax and enjoy the football at the weekend.

And he would have followed events at Ibrox on Saturday as Andrew Dallas awarded Rangers four penalties in their 4-0 beating of St Mirren.

Dallas has received criticism for that despite many of the awards being fair calls.

But one penalty was awarded for a handball that has been shown to have taken place outside the St Mirren box.

And that’s what Levein decided to have a joke about while speaking to the media this morning.

Hearts face Livingston at Tynecastle tomorrow night and, ahead of that, Levein said:

Fair play to Levein – this is one of his funnier comments.

This season has seen regular controversial refereeing decisions and that led to a SFA summit in Perth last month where officials met with Scottish Premiership bosses.

Unfortunately for the referees, the controversy hasn’t stopped and the strong reaction from managers looks set to continue.
