A brilliantly entertaining contest at Pittodrie on Wednesday evening ended 4-2 to the Gers, with Steven Gerrard claiming his first victory over Aberdeen since arriving in Scotland thanks in no small part to a Morelos brace.
The Colombian international saw red in the 57th minute after a set-to with Scott McKenna, who was also sent off, but his contribution up until that point was hailed by the opposition manager:
Remarkably, Morelos has now been sent off against Aberdeen on three different occasions this season, and now looks set to serve a suspension at a crucial point of Rangers’ campaign.
But is McInnes correct in suggestion the 22-year-old was the main difference between the two teams? Did Aberdeen thoroughly dominate after his controversial dismissal?
