Hibs have been hit with a two-game ban for new defender Darnell Johnson after his tackle on Emilio Izaguirre on Wednesday night – but the Easter Road club have appealed the decision.
The SFA Compliance Officer today analysed a number of controversial incidents from the midweek Scottish Premiership action.
Most attention has been on Alfredo Morelos’ sending off in Rangers’ 4-2 win over Aberdeen, with the Ibrox club appealing the decision by Bobby Madden to red cad the striker.
But Johnson’s late tackle on Izaguirre at Celtic Park was also on the agenda.
Referee Craig Thomson actually booked Johnson for the tackle, which led Izaguirre to be substituted with an injury.
Now the SFA have moved to offer him a two-game ban, per dailyrecord.co.uk – something Hibs have rejected and that case will now be taken to appeal.
Johnson only signed for Hibs on transfer deadline day last month and Wednesday night’s game was his debut.
It’s likely he’ll miss two games, but that will wait until after this weekend’s Scottish Cup clash with Raith before kicking in – IF Hibs lose their appeal.
