Martin Skrtel Turned Down a Move to Barcelona in January

Rangers target Martin Skrtel turned down a shock move to Barcelona during the January transfer window, according to reports from respected Spanish news outlets.

The 34-year-old centre-back currently plays in Turkish football with Fenerbahce but has been continuously linked with a move to Ibrox ever since his ex-Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard moved to Glasgow last summer.

Last month, we told you how reports in Turkey suggested Gerrard was still attempting to sign Skrtel but it turns out Rangers had some serious competition for the veteran defender.

According to AS, Skrtel turned down an approach to move to the Nou Camp because he didn’t want to be a back-up to Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti.

Given he ended up turning down the opportunity to play alongside Messi and Suarez every week, do you still think there’s a chance Skrtel could end up at Rangers one day?
