Brendan Rodgers has played down the injury Emilio Izaguirre picked up late on in Celtic‘s win over Hibs tonight – and given fans good news on some other crocked players.
It was a comfortable evening for the Hoops as they beat the Hibees 3-2 to maintain their six-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Ryan Christie got the opening goal of the game for Rodgers’ men before Oliver Burke added a second.
And it looked like Celtic would see out the game without any issue – even managing to get Vakoun Issouf Bayo on for his debut.
But the Ivory Coast striker – signed in January – had to sit back down after readying himself on the bench when Izaguirre went down injured after a tackle from Darnell Johnson.
Izaguirre was replaced and many feared a left back crisis with Kieran Tierney still not back from injury.
However, Rodgers has played that down and says Izaguirre has got away without a bad injury:
Rodgers also gave fans hope on James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard – two players injured in the 2-0 win over St Johnstone at the weekend.
Forrest picked up a hamstring injury and it seemed he’d miss a decent amount of time.
And Edouard’s ankle injury saw him stretchered out of the weekend’s game at McDiarmid Park.
But Rodgers insists both should be back soon:
With some big games on the horizon – including the Europa League clash with Valencia next week – that is all very positive news for Celtic fans.
