Ashley Cole has scored his first ever goal in the FA Cup – despite playing 14 years in the competition.
The English full-back is now back in his homeland playing under Frank Lampard at Derby, joining on a deal until the end of the season.
And he went straight into the Derby starting XI this afternoon after appearing for a minute on his debut against Hull last weekend.
Derby were at Brighton in the FA Cup earlier and were unable to get a big result to make it through to the quarter-finals.
But while his side couldn’t get a big win, Cole got a big goal – scoring for the first time ever in the FA Cup:
Cole has actually won seven FA Cups in his career – three at Arsenal and then four more at Chelsea.
Unfortunately for him and Derby, he won’t be playing any more FA Cup games this season after today’s 2-1 defeat.
Anthony Knockaert and Jurgen Locadia got Brighton the goals before Cole’s late consolation for Derby.
