Even at 36, Damarcus Beasley has still got it – as his outstanding goal for Houston Dynamo in the CONCACAF Champions League last night showed.
It feels like a long time ago that the American was bursting down the wing in a Rangers shirt.
Really, it’s been nine years – with Beasley choosing to bring his Ibrox career to an end in 2010 when he signed for Hannover 96.Embed from Getty Images
Since then, he played in Germany for a year before moving to Mexican side Puebla for three years and now Dynamo for the last five years.
Given Beasley’s game was built on his electric pace, you’d be forgiven for thinking he’d be struggling to continue at 36.
But that’s not the case – he’s still scoring belters in big games for Houston.
Take last night for example. This strike helped Dynamo get a 1-0 away victory against Guastatoya in Guatemala to put them in command of the Champions League tie:
In his three years at Rangers, Beasley scored seven goals in 47 appearances and helped the club to two league titles, two League Cups and two Scottish Cups.
