Barcelona so often rely on their vast array of world class attacking talent to help them through the latter rounds of the Champions League, but the Catalan giants had their goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen to thank during tonight’s clash with Lyon.
Barca travelled to France for the last-16 first-leg against their in-form opponents, and were made to sweat from the very early stages.
Moussa Dembele saw his effort saved in the first few minutes, and it wasn’t too long before the ex-Celtic striker turned provider by holding the ball up and laying it off for the onrushing Martin Terrier, who proceeded to conjure up a powerful shot on goal.
It looked to be heading towards the top corner, but ter Stegen somehow got his fingertips to it, and managed to push it onto the crossbar:
Not many people would argue that David de Gea has established himself as the world’s best goalie in recent seasons, but where does Barcelona’s No.1 rank in the list of great shot-stoppers?
What do you think?
