Sarri’s side went into today’s Premier League match away to Manchester City looking to get back into the top-four, after being leapfrogged by Manchester United yesterday, but it wasn’t long before they crumbled at the Etihad.
In fact, City were 4-0 up after just 25 minutes, thanks to a double from Sergio Aguero, and goals from Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan, and that was all the ammunition Sky Sports pundit Carragher needed to give his forthright opinion on Sarri’s job so far.
Speaking via the Mirror, the ex-Liverpool defender explained in full: “Disgraceful, this is as bad as anything.
“He’s [Maurizio Sarri] turned Chelsea into the Arsenal team that used to get battered for the last seven, eight years away from home in big games because they’re so weak.
“You never say that about Chelsea no matter what has gone on, but they have been weak. We’re watching a really weak football team here.”
Now, we’re fairly certain that Chelsea supporters will be pretty upset by the comments, but it’s also pretty offensive to Arsenal fans too, right?
What do you think of Carragher’s assertions?
