Video: George Oakley Scores Double as Hamilton Beat St Johnstone

George Oakley scored a double as Hamilton beat St Johnstone at New Douglas Park last night.

The English striker was a deadline day buy for Accies last week, arriving as one of new manager Brian Rice’s first signings.

He scored 14 goals this season for Inverness, but decided to swap a promotion push in the Championship for a relegation fight in the Premiership.

And that could prove to be a brilliant move for all involved if Oakley keeps up this scoring form.

In just his second game since signing, the Hamilton striker produced two brilliant finishes to win a hard-fought game against a strong St Johnstone team:

With the win, Hamilton moved three points clear of Dundee in the relegation playoff spot and that is a big boost in their battle to stay in the division.

For St Johnstone, it’s a poor result to follow up their 2-0 defeat at home to Celtic at the weekend.

They remain sixth in the table, but six points off Hearts in fifth and just four points in front of Motherwell after last night’s results.
