Argentina Look to Usher in New Era by Dropping Aguero, Higuain and Icardi

Argentina‘s national side look like they’re attempting to usher in a new era after dropping Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and Mauro Icardi from their latest squad.

The country’s new boss Lionel Scaloni named his latest selections for the
upcoming friendly matches against Venezuela and Morocco earlier today, and some of the omissions will definitely come as a surprise to fans.

Manchester City’s all-time top-scorer Aguero is excluded despite having bagged 25 goals in 34 appearances for the Premier League champions this season.

Moreover, Chelsea loanee Higuain has been dropped, and so has Inter Milan forward Icardi, as he hasn’t been picked by the Serie A giants since February 9 due to a contract dispute.

Thankfully for Argentina fans, Leo Messi is in the squad, and looks set to play for his country for the first time since the World Cup in Russia.

With the Copa America looming on the horizon, the future of the dropped trio looks far from certain, especially with Aguero and Icardi now in their 30s.

Earlier this week we told you how Germany had decided to bin Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels against their wishes, as Joachim Low looks to younger player.

As Scotland fans, we certainly wish we had some of these problems!
