Brendan Rodgers Calls Reports Linking Leicester with Morelos a ‘Wind-Up’

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has called reports linking his side with Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos nothing more than a ‘wind-up’.

Colombian forward Morelos has been linked with the Premier League club over the last week or so, as well as with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, after banging in 28 goals so far this season.

Of course, Rodgers will know all about Morelos from his two-and-a-half year reign as Celtic manager but it seems any suggestions that the Foxes could make a move for the 22-year-old are wide of the mark.

When asked about any potential interest in Morelos during his weekly press conference ahead of Leicester’s Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday, via the Sun, Rodgers explained: “I think someone is trying to wind someone up.

“I never will comment on speculation of any player.

“My focus is on the group we have now, whether we can focus and get better as a group and then with the summer, we will look to strengthen and improve then.

“We understand where the team needs improving and we’ll look at the squad over the remainder of the season to see.

“Every year we want to improve and that’s something we’ll look at in the summer.”

Do you think Morelos could cut it in the English top-flight? And even if Leicester isn’t his destination, will Rangers find it almost impossible to hold onto their star man come the end of the current season?
