The 35-year-old striker is still looking for a new club after being released by Frank Lampard at Derby County at the end of last season after being sent on loan to Burton Albion – where he managed just two goals in 15 appearances.
But despite his modest form, and the fact he’s just turned 35, Bent seems to think he’s still capable of turning out for either of Scotland’s big two sides, after seeing his old pal Jermain Defoe make the move north of the border in January.
When asked about potentially moving to the Scottish Premiership during an appearance on Sky Sports’ Goals On Sunday earlier today, Bent said: “It’s something I’ve looked at before.
“There was a few links there and a few clubs, but it was back in the day. The timing wasn’t great for me as things were going pretty well for me down here (England).
“I think it’s fascinating though, as when you talk about Rangers and Celtic, you’re talking about arguably two of the biggest clubs in world football.
“Its definitely something I would want to do.”
Once a £24 million transfer to Aston Villa, Bent hasn’t played in the English top-flight for almost five years now – but could he still do a job in the Scottish Premiership?
What do you think?
