Derek McInnes Praises His Aberdeen Players’ ‘Bucket-loads of Character’

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has praised his players for showing ‘bucket-loads’ of character in their Scottish Cup quarter-final win over Rangers.

The Dons travelled to Ibrox as underdogs given they had spurned the opportunity to win the tie at Pittodrie earlier this month, and on top of that, their top-scorer Sam Cosgrove was ruled out through suspension.

But the Dandy Dons roared to a 2-0 victory, with Niall McGinn and Connor McLennan scoring the vital goals – and gifting Aberdeen their third consecutive win over Rangers in Glasgow this season.

That’s a pretty remarkable record for any Aberdeen boss, but McInnes was intent on shining the spotlight onto his team after the full-time whistle:

Aberdeen will now face cup holders Celtic in the semi-finals of the competition, with the tie to be played at Hampden on the weekend of April 13/14.

Can they go all the way and claim their first Scottish Cup triumph since 1990?
