Lewis Holtby to Rangers? Hamburg Man Linked With Summer Move

Lewis Holtby could be on his way to Rangers this summer, according to reports.

The German midfielder has been with Hamburg since 2014, first joining the club on loan before making the move permanent a year later.

He first joined Tottenham before spending a season on loan at Fulham, but then returned to Germany.

Holtby is well known to English football fans following his three-year spell in the Premier League.

And then it was back to the Bundesliga, where Holtby played four seasons before being relegated to the second tier.

Holtby is only 28 and is out of contract with Hamburg at the end of this campaign – one they will hope ends with promotion to the top flight.

But it appears he could be on his way to Glasgow this summer instead of signing an extension. That’s according goal.com’s Ronan Murphy:

Holtby is a three-time German international and shown throughout his career that he’s a quality midfield player.

Rangers need more cutting edge in the final third so this move makes sense.

Steven Gerrard will also be aware of Holtby after playing against the midfielder during his time in England.
