Former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele broke a longstanding Lyon club record over the weekend after continuing his excellent form for the French side.
The £20 million forward has been in red-hot form at the moment, having bagged five goals in his last six games, with the latest of his strikes coming in last night’s 3-2 home win over Montpellier.
However, whilst the goal helped Lyon to an important win, Dembele claimed a record in the process, becoming the first French player to score 16 goals or more in his first season at the club since ex-France international Steve Marlet managed it in the 2000/01 season.
It might not be the mos illustrious of records, and we’re willing to bet Dembele will break many more in the coming seasons, but the achievement underlines just how important a player Dembele has quickly become for Lyon.
Should Celtic have asked for more than £20 million last September?
