England have called-up Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi this afternoon – but there’s plenty of Three Lions supporters who aren’t overly thrilled with the winger’s surprise progression to the senior side.
The 18-year-old midfielder has been earmarked as a potential England player for several years now but today’s decision by Gareth Southgate to include him in his squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers has surprised many – especially given Hudson-Odoi doesn’t have a solitary cap for the Under-21 side.
Moreover, Hudson-Odoi has only played 120 minutes of Premier League football in his young career and is yet to start a single top-flight match for the Blues.
He has plenty of cup and Europa League experience, but does Hudson-Odoi deserve the nod ahead of established Prem players like James Maddison or Aaron Wan-Bissaka?
Well, there’s plenty of fans who reckon his promotion has come a little too early:
Do you think Hudson-Odoi has been called-up too quickly by England?
