The Catalan giants signed Coutinho from United’s bitter rivals Liverpool in a deal which could rise to an incredible £142 million with various clauses being met, but the Brazilian’s first year at the Nou Camp has been nothing short of extremely disappointing.
The 26-year-old is no longer an automatic starter under Barca boss Ernesto Valverde and now Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo are claiming Coutinho will be used as bait to lure United into accepting a swap deal for Rashford, with fellow Brazilian winger Malcom also a possible candidate for a swap.
Rashford was handed United’s No.10 shirt following Wayne Rooney’s exit from the club, and he’s long been heralded as one of the Red Devils’ all-time greatest players, but with his current deal running out in 2020, and a new contract at Old Trafford yet to be agreed, could United be tempted into doing business?
And would United fans rather have Rashford or Coutinho in their side?
