Neil Lennon believes some players are running on fumes after Celtic’s 0-0 draw with Aberdeen this afternoon.
The Hoops manager returned to Celtic Park for the first time in his second spell in charge today, but was unable to get a win to mark it.
Instead, his side were largely frustrated by Derek McInnes’ hard-working Dons side and had to settle for a point out of the game.
That’s frustrated Celtic fans, who would have been expecting the team to win and move 10 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
But Lennon didn’t seem too bothered about the result and instead blamed a hard schedule on Celtic’s performance and the scoreline:
Celtic have had some tough games since Lennon replaced Brendan Rodgers as manager, beating Hearts at Tynecastle in his first match before knocking Hibs out of the Scottish Cup at Easter Road last weekend.
Today’s result means they maintain the eight-point lead they had over Rangers going into the weekend.
But their rivals’ 1-1 draw with Hibs last night gave Celtic an opportunity to really put themselves out of sight in the title race and today was a missed opportunity.
