Arsenal‘s Europa League hopes are hanging by a thread tonight after a disappointing 3-1 defeat away to Rennes – with striker Ismaïla Sarr coming up with an absolutely brilliant late diving header.
After Alex Iwobi gave the Gunners a crucial early away goal, and it looked as though the Premier League side would stroll it against the team currently sitting in 10th position in Ligue 1.
But things quickly turned sour for Arsenal when their defender Sokratis was sent off just before half-time.
Rennes equalised one minute later, and took the lead courtesy of an own goal from Nacho Monreal, but it was Sarr’s late goal which really leaves Unai Emery’s men with a mountain to climb in the second-leg:
With a top-four spot in the Premier League far from being a sure thing, just how important is the Europa League to Arsenal’s season?
And can they comeback in North London next week?
