Video: VAR Shows Ronaldo’s Thumping Header Just Squeaked Over the Line

VAR came to the rescue of Juventus this evening by showing that Cristiano Ronaldo’s thumping header had somehow managed to cross the line against Atletico Madrid.

Having lost 2-0 away to the Spaniards two weeks ago, it looked as though the Italian giants were staring an early exit from European football, but their magnificent number seven had other plans.

Having scored just once in the Champions League this season before tonight, the pressure was on Ronaldo to deliver in Turin, and he did exactly that on 27 minutes by heading Juve in-front.

That halved the aggregate deficit and the Portuguese superstar evened things up just after half-time in pretty extraordinary circumstances:

Not only did Ronaldo’s header cross the line, but Atletico goalie Jan Oblak was denied what would have been undoubtedly save of the season, don’t you think?

Who do you think will go on to win this season’s Champions League?
