5 Players You Probably Completely Forgot Played For Celtic

Celtic have had an illustrious line of players to turn out for the club.

They’ve had loads of league winners, plenty cup heroes and even some European conquerors.

But the Hoops have also had some forgettable players in their history.

And here we give you five you probably completely forgot about because they were so poor:

Olivier Kapo

You probably remember Kapo from the time he spent at Auxerre, Juventus, Monaco, Birmingham City and Wigan earlier in his week. What many won’t remember is his short-lived spell at Celtic. He signed for the Hoops in November of 2010 on an 18-month loan, but lasted just two months before cutting ties. In that time, he made just two appearances and did exactly nothing to make an impression on fans.

Josh Thompson

Some may recall Thompson given he played 21 times for Celtic at the start of his career. Tony Mowbray was the man who signed him and actually gave him games too. But Thompson’s time lasted about as long as Mowbray’s failed spell in charge and was moved on to Rochdale, Peterborough and Chesterfield on loan before signing for Portsmouth permanently in 2012. The centre back actually scored three goals for Celtic, but we’d be amazed if anyone can remember those.

Ben Hutchinson

Those with good memories will remember Hutchinson signing for Celtic as a youngster after leaving Middlesbrough. At the time, Boro were a Premier League team and the striker no doubt departed thinking he’d have an easier time breaking through to the first team at Celtic. That didn’t materialise. He stayed three years in Glasgow, but appeared just five times for the first team and failed to score a goal. Hutchinson has since bounced around a whole host of teams, including Kilmarnock in 2011, and currently turns out for Carlton Town in the Northern Premier League Division One East.

Fernando De Ornelas

Who?! Apparently De Ornelas played for Celtic in 2000 after impressing on trial. He was a Kenny Dalglish/John Barnes signing and must have played like one as he got just two appearances before leaving. The Venezuelan midfielder is definitely a name only the most diehard Celtic fans will remember.

Steven Mouyokolo

Mouyokolo is the player on this list who played for Celtic most recently, signing under Neil Lennon back in 2013. He’d played for Wolves and Hull in England and would have been signed to bring experience to the Hoops squad. But he played just three times – including the poor European defeat away at Shakhtar Karagandy – before moving on. Another thoroughly forgettable signing.
